Rain Nox is a writer and composer in Austin, TX. She holds a degree in music composition from the University of Texas. After graduating, she focused on musical theatre, writing several one act and full length musicals that have been performed locally.  Her one act musical Sisters of the Sea was featured in Best of Fest at Fronterafest, and her musical Crazy Like a Person was winner of Best Original Play at the City Theatre’s Summer Acts festival.

 

In 2020 she turned her attention to novel writing, and her debut, the midlife magic fantasy Animal Charmer, was published in February 2023. Nothing Blooms in the Shade, her second adult fiction work was published in June of 2024, and her first kids book, Haunting at the 18th Hole was released in October.

 

 

 

 

Other career highlights include the premiere of her one act opera Problems as part of the 2017 One Ounce Opera's Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera Competition, nominated for an 2017 Austin Critics Table Awards for Original Composition/Score.  Her one act opera The Stranger was premiered in January 2020, and a song cycle about the ERA had a virtual premiere in August 2020. In 2021 she was commissioned by Austin's Inversion Ensemble to write Perspectives for unaccompanied choir.
